Greetings heroes/citizens, today I’ll write about another Transformers Animated action figure that I recently acquired. Starscream, I bought this with Optimus Prime. It is the same line as the Optimus Prime, which I reviewed it in the last couples of post. I’ll keep this post short, and only focus on the design, articulations and colors of the figure.

Packaging ; same as Optimus Prime,Starscream was put on a plastic tray and tied by some twisties. An instruction leaflet was given. Same as the Optimus Prime’s box, it have Starscream illustrations on the box.

Design; Starscream is one of my favorite characters in Transformers’ Saga. He always have a twisted mind even though we know he is a bad guy, Starscream is more ruthless than any other Decepticon, and he is also crazy for power. In this Transformers Animated, Starscream is a futuristic jetfighter. He remind me of a Macross fighter in jet mode.I even pose him in a Gerwalk Mode pose just for fun (I hope Macross fans don’t get angry with this  )

The design is awesome considering that this is only a Voyager Class action figure. They used a translucent plastic for the pilot’s cockpit panel, face and parts of the jet thrust. Inside the pilot’s cockpit you can see the detail that was done to it, but unfortunately it cannot be opened.

Transforming Starscream from jet mode to robot mode is easy, it only takes about 6 or 7 steps. But changing it back to jet mode is a bit tricky. The legs should be align in the right way at the right time for you to snap it back together. This remind me of Leader Class Megatron The Movie.

At both of his hands, there are a Null Ray Blasters, but in this action figure it is known as Double Sonic Shock Blast. It can shoot out a missile on each blasters. At the back of the box they said it is a hidden arm lasers, but I don’t think it is a hidden secret weapons, they’re sticking out both of his hands, there is nothing hidden about it. I’m willing to give up the shooting gimmick for a smaller Null Ray Blasters.

In robot mode, he look 95% animation accurate. I don’t mind the differences so much because I love this action figure, both in robot mode and jet mode.

Articulations; yes, I admit the figure have a limited articulations, but it’s not that bad. To get the animation’s look, the design team had to sacrifice the articulations a bit. But it is forgiven because they use a ball joint for the ankle. It help him to stand firmly because he is tall and thin.

Colors; it’s not bad but some parts (his thighs for example) have different colors from the other parts, that was supposed to be in the same colors. They use a grey colored plastics for the base and painted him with some dark red and black color for the detail. This time Hasbro put the Decepticon logo on him unlike Optimus Prime.

Collectors values; this will never or might ta some time to be a valueble collectors items. We all know that Hasbro will inevitably reissue their products and when that happened the market will be flooded with it.This is also a mass market produce item and because of this there is nothing special or unique about it. So, to get this is a must for the TF’s hardcore collectors and if you are really, really crazy about Starscream.
