Greetings heroes/citizen. To all fans of Hideo Kojima’s works, you can reward your patience for his latest work on MGS, Peace Walker by downloading the demo at IGN. The demo was available on 23rd, (I wrote this article on 25th and I can’t log-in,stupid TMNet!) I downloaded and tried it- the game is awesome! The demo is in Japanese, but the control panel is simple enough just like MGS Portable Ops, but it’s really different from MGS PO’s control panel. If you have trouble playing the game, you can go through the forum they created to help you play the game.
For this demo you’ll get to play 3 levels, the first 2 is more on practice of your sneaking and c.q.c skills, and the third one is the battle against the tank, like in the trailer. The tank is kinda hard to destroy at first, but once you get used to the game you can beat it over and over and over. The easiest way is to use the Battle Dress Uniform (B.D.U) Snake, yes you can choose the appearance of Snake. There’s B.D.U, Sneaking Suit, Jungle Fatigues and Naked.
There are a lot of improvement in terms of the controls and graphics if you compare to MGS P.O and P.O+. The default camera control is a bit confusing, but the setting can easily be changed. They did a great job combining animated cgi and illustration for some of the cut scenes/story mode. At first of the game (story) in the rain you can see the raindrop on your screen, that’s detail man! The camera, when you’re running is a bit shaking (not sure if it was caused by bugs or not lol), but it’s cool.
Enough talking I think you better try it yourself, and believe me if you’re fans of MGS this game sure will not let you down. By the way you must have a PSP with firmware 6.0 to play this demo. Good luck and safe sneaking all!
