Medicom RAH Naked Snake: Cold War Version- Review

Greetings heroes/citizen. I’ve been dying to get myself a Medicom RAH Snake since I started collecting 12″ action figures. When Medicom released the first Naked Snake back in 2007 I was only collecting other figures and when I realized how great that action figure was, the price is already too expensive, some even went to more than RM1000. Thank god Medicom is revisiting this tittle and I can get myself a Naked Snake action figure. Other then this action figure which is Cold War Version, Medicom will also reproduce RAH Naked Snake Tiger Stripe Camouflage Version and Square Camouflage (Zombie face paint). I can’t wait for those action figures. That will be on March or April next year probably earlier,but today I will review Medicom RAH Naked Snake: Cold War Version. In the game MGS 3 Snake Eater, if you acquired this uniform you can use it as camouflage against the Soviet’s troops, that is as long as you’re facing them, and if you turn your back, they’ll see the US flag and you’ll be in alert phase. This action figure’s price tag range from $160 to $199, some seller will ask for more, some less. It was released early October this year and I got it about 2 weeks ago.

Packaging; I really love the design and color scheme of the box,the front of it has Soviet’s flag and on the back is U.S flag. The box is a bit small, compare to my Old Snake’s box. Inside there is the normal plastic container for the figure and accesories. Like other Medicom RAH boxes, it’s has a large window on the front of the box and a flap. The box is a dusty finish box.

Design/sculpt; I’m not sure if this version of headsculpt is a new one or they just use the old mold, but if you compare it to the picture of last version, they look the same. The color is slightly darker (Cold War’s version), than the old one. I’m really amaze with the uniform they made for him. The stabo harness truly looks like the one his wearing in the game. Buckles, buttons,clips and hook of the stabo were made of metal and it was done very neatly.

The uniform fits very well and so is the stabo, if you want, you can insert some polyester wool for the two pouches on his left waist. I did that after I took these pictures and it made the pouches looks better, but you need a pair of tweezers, and with that too it’s hard to put the straps back.

The boots are made of rubber, no fancy leather-made,lace-up boots for this version also , the same boots you got from the last versions. The sneaking suit he’s wearing inside the uniform is made of vinyl leather, there are printed labels on both of his arms, just to add some details on it.

The uniform base color is orange (I’m not sure what color this is, but it looks orange to me) any other colors that you see on his uniform are printed on it. The holster is made of some kind of leather, the gun fit snugly, be careful with the stitches and the leather is soft. As for the combat knife, they still use the same method to hold it on his leg, green duct tape, and you think they will upgrade that to leather?? lol

Articulation; it supposed to be a very action-packed-super-dooper-ultra-poseable action figure, but.. the sneaking suit inside his uniform will limit the pose a little bit, so are his rubber boots. But if you want some simple pose, it’s no problem. The neck-no problem, you have to move the radio piece hanging on his neck a bit and it can move freely.

Colorings; yes, I like it (I’m going to compare the color of the hs, to my Old Snake as that’s the only reference I can hold to now). Like I said the hs’s colors are much better, not pale at all. Paint apps are neat and no obvious bleed over other parts. The uniform’s (back parts) paints are quite thick, so it takes some time to get them rubbed off, not that you want to do that right?

Accessories, not much to the naked eyes, but if you like me, I consider his stabo harness as accessories and I’m happy with what I got from this action figure. Other than that there are 3 more extra gloves a pistol with silencer (Operator), cqc knife, combat knife and communication radio.

Overall, if you love Naked Snake, you must, I insist you get. Not only because it’s a very well made action figure but, there are not much action figures of Snake were made, and if you think you’ll skip this only for Tiger Stripe and Digital Camo, make sure that you’ll not regret about it later. I’ve been there, it’s horrible, I’m willing to pay RM1+++.++ that time and that’s for what? Just for a Medi figure!!! Not cool man. Sure there are not much accessories and the headsculpt may not top Hot Toys’ or Enterbay’s, but for me I bought an icon not just a toy. So make sure you made the right choice, and I’m really thanking Medicom for this revisit. (I hope they’ll remake Raiden to , Rising is coming out right? )
