S.I.C Vol 41: Kamen Rider X

Greetings heroes/citizens, it sucks. I don’t have much time lately to do a full toy review. Thank god today I got the time to play my latest S.I.C that I just got few days ago, Kamen Rider X and Apollogeist.Kamen Rider X is a cyborg that sworn to fight the evil organization G.O.D (Government OF Darkness), and Apologeist is one of those G.O.D’s henchmen. There is a sale for these action figures at HLJ and it’s going for 50% less. These action figures was released a few months ago,on 31st May 08 to be exact and that time I was broke, so that’s why I just got it.These action figures was sculpted by the legendary Takayuki Takeya, he’s been staying away from S.I.C line for quite some time, and personally this kind of old Rider action figure is what I’ve been waiting for.

Enough introduction, lets check out why these action figures are worth to buy.But due to the lack of time to update my site, I’ll devide this review into 2 part. Today I’ll only write about Kamen Rider X and the next time I will continue with Apollogeist. Save me some time and I got two articles to to post, isn’t that clever wakaka.

Packging; Bandai is cutting cost I think, the plastic tray is kind of thin and soft. There are two trays in the box. The graphic design of the packaging deserves two thumbs up, the windows are large enough to let lights in,and for those collecting toys as MISB, you can admire your S.I.C in the box more clearly.Lots of twisties and celophane tapes to hold the figures and accessories.

Design/sculpt; Kamen Rider X- all I can say to describe this action figure in a single line is. It’s a beauty! I can look at it for hours and doing nothing just to admire the lines and curves, no I’m not gay. I look at it from a different views, and all I see is the lines (body lines) are all alligning in the way they should be.Personally I think this is more to an articulated statue and not just a mere action figure. It’s a piece of an art, and I don’t know why it’s selling cheap at HLJ,maybe it’s not selling well like the other new generation Riders. I pitty them who said that this action figure is lack of collectible values, they don’t know what they’re missing.

The mouth piece or Rider X’s “Perfector” they called it, can be detached and put to Apollogeist’s face to become Revived Apollogeist, neat gimmick.The head sculpt realy brought up the fresh looks for Kamen Rider X. The best part that I like the most about this action figure is the body parts. The shoulder armors will not interfere the movement of the hands, and it looks like it was crafted as one piece with the body.

This S.I.C is using an inner body that was fitted with the outer layer, like most of Takeya’s design. I noticed that if Takeya sculpt an S.I.C there is no thigh armor, very different to what Ando Kenji is doing.Other detailing sculpts are awesome as ever. This S.I.C really brought back the S.I.Cness in terms of design and sculpts.

Articulations; the articulations is not that bad,comparing to what Takeya had done before. I think in terms of articulations, this S.I.C have the best set of articulations if we talk about Takeya’s works.The only articulations that really a failure are the ankles. It’s useless, because of this useless joints, Rider X is having a hard time to stand straight.

Colors; I like the candy red used for the body armor, looks sleek. The wash for the rest of the body is very moderate, some collector may say it too clean, but I love it.

Accessories; he came with all his weapons used in the tv series.Actually they’re all his belt buckle. When he pulled it out it changed to the weapon that he wanted. The weapons are his sword (Ridol Whip) ,pistol,two rod (Ridol Stick, Pole) and a whiplash (Ridol Rope). Other accessories are his extra fists, five of them. The last thing is the thing that every old school riders should have, the scarf.
